Dallas Love Field is a city-owned public airport 6 miles northwest of downtown Dallas, Texas. It was Dallas’ main airport until 1974 when Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport opened
Is the second busiest airport in Texas, handling nearly 3.2 million passengers annually. The airport is located in the City of Dallas’ Love Field neighborhood, just southeast of downtown.
The airport is named for Dr. William J. Love, who in the 1920s purchased 1,100 acres of land in Dallas for the purpose of constructing an airport. Dr. Love built his personal home on the property, which is now a museum.
